I like this post for so many reasons… read it, share it. Any creative professional will know the feelings and frustrations. And of course, the photographs are beautiful and calming.

Bullying hurts!
Words that have meaning in more ways than one.
David Foster
David Foster was in my class in 3rd grade,
David had polio braces on both legs,
At recess bullies would call David “peg leg”.
It was then with David I would always stay.
David Foster was not afraid of the bullies,
but he couldn’t defend himself with ease,
David, he couldn’t even sit on the swings,
but he made me a fine necklace out of
dandelions and leaves.
Kids said David was a sight for sore eyes,
He didn’t wear clothes that matched,
or have slicked back hair.
The bullies would mock him when he came in the room,
but David, he’d always smile
as if he didn’t care.
I really don’t remember much about school
back then…
But David Foster,
I will always remember as my friend.

College Dazed…
Sending kids off to school is always emotional – even for Vampires.
“Hey Mom?”
“Hey Garrett?”
“Do you mind if I bring my easel to school?”
“No, not at all. If you don’t have room in your dorm you can drop it off at your Uncle Rod’s.”
I felt a sting in my nose and eyes, trying not to get squishy. Crap. I knew this would happen.
“Mom are you getting squishy?” He came over and put his arms around me.
“I’m sorry. It just seems like it all happened so soon.”
“I love you mom.”
I always believe my parents were more than happy to ship my brother Val and me off to college. No tears, just a lot of stern advice that we had no intention of following. One thing I can can give my parents credit for was allowing me to go to college and not worry about it making me unfit for marriage or motherhood. After all, we…

Want to Successfully Publish? First, Are You a “Real” Writer?
For many writers (me included), we don’t start off with the confidence to yell to the world, “I’m going to be a professional author!” Heck, I wrote a 178,000 word “novel” and still didn’t believe I was a writer. Later, I had over a year and a half of consistent blogging under my belt, multiple short stories, and newbie novels that had been at least good enough to win prestigious contests and yet….
I was not a “real writer.”
Schrödinger Writer? If you put a writer in an office at a keyboard, is the writer alive or dead (real or fake) until the book is published?
We’ve Come a LONG Way, Baby
The literary landscape has shifted dramatically. More avenues of publishing have opened and become appealing, thus this silly question of, “Are we a real writer?” holds far less power. Believe it or not, when I began blogging, I dedicated…

You Transfix Me Quite – Jane Eyre and Vampires
You Transfix Me Quite – Jane Eyre and Vampires
Charlotte Bronte was brilliant. She created magic in a tough and most amazing woman named Jayne Eyre.
Jane Eyre does not seek a man to rescue her. She doesn’t seek him to complete her. She doesn’t look to silly romance to make her life perfect.
Jane is real. She is smart. She is tough. And in her soul of souls Jane Eyre doesn’t take shit from anyone.
I love Jane Eyre.
The book came out I believe in 1847. My mother brought a copy of it out to California with her during the California Gold Rush. I read the well-worn copy when I was 13. It took my breath away.
If only Jane had been a Vampire I thought when I first read it. I imagined her taking care of her nasty relatives in a most creative and horrible way, draining…

Happy Birthday Little Dinosaur
You are loved…
We are patiently waiting for you to come out of your cave. While we wait we’ve decided to celebrate your birthday with some Stories about you that will live on forever.
One day, a dinosaur appeared in my fishbowl. She was wildly drawn and breathing fire, but I wasn’t afraid. She dropped an insightful comment and left. I poked my head into her domain and found a wondrous world full of creative and awesome things. I followed her immediately.
A few months after we met, she asked me to guest post on her blog. It was my first guest post. I was nervous as hell, even though, at that point, I didn’t realize what a blogging celebrity she was. I posted what, in all honestly, is one of my most half-assed posts since I had the flu at the time, but her audience was kind, just like Rara.
For the…

Garage Full of Uncertainty.
Halloween is coming… so are the zombies. This will be the blog to follow…
Monster Hunters - Hunters blog
The zombie nurse fell sideways as the weight of the ax pushed downward upon her. Kali recoiled backward as blood from the zombie sprayed her face. Her scream was stolen by the suddenness of the action and she stood silently staring. The Haitian stepped over the zombie nurse but Erik urged him to step back. The ax twisted from Erik’s hands and fell to the concrete floor with a clang. Erik picked it up quickly and swung downward upon the side of the zombies head. Blood flooded the thin brown hair of the zombie. Her skull collapsed easily under the weight of the ax head. Kali scooted quickly out of the way of the blood as it ate away the space between her and the large garage doors. Two zombies appeared at the open garage door. They growled as they noticed the trio standing within the garage. The first zombie…

Rescue me
Read, back read, follow, repeat. Great blog and loads of fun (just before Halloween to get you in the mood.) Recommended by Vampires everywhere.
Monster Hunters - Hunters blog
Erik stood with the Haitians help. The tall black man was not yet a vampire but Erik noticed dark blood along his right shoulder. Two dime-sized red marks identified the infection.
“Brother, how are you?” He asked.
“How are you, is the real question,” Erik asked cautiously. The Haitian smiled and placed a large black hand upon the dime-sized marks. “Saved my life.”
“Well, I guess that’s one way,” Erik said with a grimace. “Thanks, for the help. I need a drink.”
Erik searches and finds the duffel bag. He reaches into the bag and removes the cap from the bottle of whiskey. He swallows hard while watching as the zombies begin to gather around the three.
“What do you recommend we do, superman?” Erik asked.
“Um…we have to find some place to stay.” The tall man shoved an approaching zombie backward into a second. His strength was amazing but…

Beware of Emotional Vampires – an important book recommendation
Read this and SHARE IT. Free download (always free). Important work from Mandy White.
This is important for your child (vampire or regular human). Jealousy is not a healthy or normal part of any relationship. A jealous partner isn’t doing out of love – he/she is doing it for control. I recommend this book for all parents and teens and anyone who might be at risk for staying in unhealthy relationships. Yes, tell all of your human friends NOT to get involved with emotional vampires (for THEY are the evil ones).
Short description
Is your boyfriend or husband unreasonably jealous? Women often mistake jealousy for an endearing display of affection without realizing that it can be a sign of something much more sinister. How can you tell when a man’s jealousy crosses the line from simple affection to unhealthy behavior? Can you fix it before it’s too late?
Extended description
Some people think jealousy is…

Short Story Sunday: Date with a Vampire
The story continues…
Part 7 in The Hunter series
Date with a Vampire
Austin showed up at Elizabeth’s door at 8:00 sharp. She opened it before he knocked.
She let him in, and they stood in the entryway looking at each other, eye to eye for what seemed like an eternity. He then took her hands, first his fingertips touching hers, cold to warm, then their hands entwined. Neither of them spoke.
He smiled. No fangs. All the other guys she dated lately had long sexy fangs. He had something else. Austin had warmth.
“Let’s go,” he said. He’d wanted to say, “Let’s go upstairs,” but he could wait. “You look beautiful tonight. I expected black. You’re wearing green. It looks good on you.” He opened the car door for her and went around to the drivers seat after she got in.
It was Second Saturday, the night that all the art galleries…

Short Story Sunday: Cold and Warm
More of this story will be posted Sunday, September 7 on Vampiremaman.com
Watch for it and read all of the installments.
He’d kissed that mouth that drank human blood. Oh well. It wasn’t any different than someone eating a hot dog with onions and chile then washing it down with a beer. OK it was different. A lot different. But he could get over it.
Was she as cold all over as her kiss? He’d never made love to a Vampire before. God, that sounded horrible like making love to a dead person. She was a dead person, sort of. She was older than any living person yet she had the body of a young woman.
Arranging his tie Austin smiled and said to his reflection, “You’re a history buff. She’s the perfect woman for you.”
Would the reflection issue be an issue? Sometimes Vampires didn’t show up in reflections. They’d be unclear or even just shadows. He made a mental note to check it out with her, that is if she was…

Casa de los espíritus – House of the spirits
They called the farmhouse casa de los espiritus, the ones who picked the fruit and helped with the orchards. House of the spirits.
The original house is gone, replaced in 1884 with a lavish 5,400 square foot Queen Anne style Victorian. The spirits are still there in the form of Tellias and Eleora the very ones who had the home built. Yes, they’re still there because they are Vampires.
Over the years the house has seen friends come and go but the owners stay the same, never aging a day. During the day the house is still but at night the spirits come to life with both darkness and in light. One can go by the darkened old house and hear laughing coming from within. Memories fade except of the faces of youth that never grows old.
On rare occasions we might see ghosts in the orchards or down by the…
